Founded in the 1920s, Coral Gables is a notable beauty with Mediterranean-style architecture located just southwest of downtown Miami.
The Gables is a well known area of Miami with classic Old Spanish homes originally constructed in the 1920s and 1930s.
Today Coral Gables is home to approximately 155 multi-nationals and 26 consulates and trade offices.
One of the historical landmarks is the Biltmore Hotel.
Situated on 150 tropical acres, the grand Biltmore Hotel was built in 1926.
Land developer George Merrick was joined by John McEntee Bowman at the height of the Florida land boom to build a vast hotel to be the center of sports and fashion, and to create Merrick's vision of "The City Beautiful".
High Pines (area in orange) and Ponce-Davis (area in pink), located between Coral Gables and South Miami, is a neighborhood of high demand and short supply.
These areas not located within the city limits of South Miami or Coral Gables, but rather a square mile of unincorporated Miami-Dade County.
High Pines is a well established neighborhood with most lots not exceeding 15,000 square feet.
Housing ranges from mid-century to brand new construction with prices ranging from $400,000 to over $2,000,000.
The city's founder, Wilson Alexander Larkins, brought his family to South Florida, where he started a small dairy and later established a post office near what is now Cocoplum Circle.
Native Americans (Tequesta, Calusa and Jaega) had roamed the area for centuries, before pioneers reached Little Hunting Ground, now known as Coconut Grove, and Big Hunting Ground, known as Cutler.
By 1906, Larkins bought land west of now Red Road and South of Sunset Drive to establish the first grocery and general supply store located in the area.
The Village of Pinecrest is a family friendly suburban area of slightly less than 8 square miles known for sprawling acre lots in the northern part, lush landscaping, top public and private schools and renowned system of parks including Pinecrest Gardens.
Henry Flagler used the land at US1 and Southwest 102 Street as a staging area during the construction of the Overseas Railroad to the Florida Keys in the early 1900s.
By the 1930s, the community began to evolve around Parrot Jungle and Gardens, one of the first tourist attractions established in the Miami area.
Palmetto Bay offers unique recreational activities and access to the bay.
The community is also known as "The Village of Parks" with 6 park facilities as well as the preservation of the natural environment.
Coral Reef Park in the Village of Palmetto Bay is more than 50 acres with green open spaces and pineland preserve areas.

Deering Estate at Cutler is a 444-acre estate on the East side of Old Cutler Road with globally endangered pine rockland habitat, as well as a habitat for rare and native plants such as orchids, bromeliads, and 40 species of trees.
