Donelson is a neighborhood of Nashville, Tennessee about 6 mi east of downtown Nashville along U.S. Route 70.
It is named in honor of John Donelson, co-founder of Nashville and father-in-law of Andrew Jackson, Nashvillian and seventh President of the United States.
Unless you're moving from the coasts, Nashville home prices can be shocking.
What $200,000 buys in other cities might pick up a condo on the west side.
That's where Donelson can help.
Six miles from downtown, Donelson was formerly considered a separate city.
Downtown is the energetic hub of Nashville's country music scene, with crowded honky-tonk bars lining Broadway, the area's main street.
Those lucky enough to call this trendy spot home will almost always live in one of the exceptional condominiums developments, such as Encore, The Exchange Lofts, Art Avenue Lofts, The Bennie Dillon, The Viridian, and The 505 building.
The SoBro area (south of Broadway) and part of downtown, has bustling bars, cool restaurants and a vibrant music scene.
Residents and tourists alike appreciate the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, performances at the Bridgestone Arena and open-air Ascend.
The Gulch is an upscale neighborhood known for its luxury condominiums, high-end fashion boutiques and trendsetting restaurants.
Old warehouses are being razed and revamped, and gleaming high-rise condos and lofts are being developed, as upscale new hotels, restaurants, and clubs compete for space here.
Renowned bluegrass musicians take the stage at The Station Inn, a tiny club open since the 1970s, while Mercy Lounge has indie, soul and folk gigs.
If you enjoy having the best food and drink at your doorstep, then give a critical look toward these enviable condominium developments: Icon, Twelve-Twelve, Terrazzo.
The Nations is a west side neighborhood, north of Charlotte Pike, and it's seen significant business growth in the past few years, making it a great place to live and play.
Hip, funky, and friendly are the descriptors you'll hear from residents, some of whom guard their neighborhood as a Nashville secret.
