Gordon Gilbert, Jr., MAI, has testified as an expert witness in City, County, State and federal courts. GA&A's founder, Harry E. Gilbert, a real estate broker, began his appraisal career after the Mayor asked him to provide valuations for blocks of downtown properties devastated by the 1904 Fire. In 1953, he became president of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers, the forerunner of the Appraisal Institute.

His son Gordon took up the practice after serving in World War II, in the Army Engineering Corps. He soon became a Member of the Appraisal Institute MAI.
